We believe that the Climate and Ecological Emergency are existential threats to humanity. We take a principled stand to act here and now with an awareness of the scope, scale and speed required. Doing nothing is not an option.
We acknowledge that nobody is coming to save us. It’s up to us to take action. We will not wait around for someone to give us permission. We will join in, take a stand and speak out.
We welcome and develop constructive, creative inquiry together. We want to ask better questions. Everything is open to challenge. We acknowledge we could be wrong.
We learn together through action. We encourage experimentation. We celebrate our failures as much as our successes.
We are the organisation. We are here to help you find and build your own crew and turn your ideas into action. We are all accountable to each other.
We beg, borrow and make what we need. We use the best tools we can find to get the job done. We are resourceful. We are not afraid to make it up.
We encourage and support everyone. We deal with people in the way that we would like to be dealt with. We are local and not exclusive, we leave no one behind. We widen the circle, make friends, develop relationships and build shared understanding. We want to enjoy the journey.
We join the dots to see the Big Picture and the detail. We link ideas and communities across the world. We are weaving a network together to share our experience and learning. We develop connections and collaboration.
The clue is in the name! We are Climate Action Ilkley, and without action we are nothing. We will get things done. We will initiate, incubate and support projects that provide a positive response to the climate crisis.
We will encourage our members to take action, and will support them when they do.
